Small Returns for Buy To Let

Investors have come back to the buy to let market as rent growths rise. The latest lettings survey saw tenants demand had led to a growth of new landlords during the 2nd quarter of 2007.

It has been fifteen months since the last increase in landlord instructions and is now about 16% with London and the South East landlord sales above the national average.

The 6% of landlords selling property rather than remortgaging is still less than the 10% of the 2nd quarter of 2004. The current economic conditions have allowed buy to let investors to cash in on rising rents. These offer some relief from the high costs of borrowing.

The Home Information packs have helped the buy to let market with people trying to sell before they came into effect. Many were selling below market value plus the fact that there was far more choice than normal.
